What Is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty involves reshaping or reducing excess tissue of the labia to improve comfort, symmetry or appearance.
The procedure most commonly involves the labia minora, although the labia majora may also be treated where appropriate.
Women may consider labiaplasty because of:

● Asymmetry between the labia
● Discomfort or irritation during exercise or physical activity

Am I a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty may be suitable if you:
Are concerned about the size, shape or symmetry of your labia
Experience physical discomfort or irritation
Have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve

Are a non-smoker or willing to stop smoking before and after surgery as advised
Understand the recovery requirements and temporary restrictions following surgery

If you are pregnant, have an active infection or have other medical conditions that may affect surgery or healing, your surgeon may recommend delaying the procedure. Your suitability for surgery and the appropriate surgical technique will be determined by your surgeon following an individual assessment.
Labiaplasty Surgical Techniques
There are different surgical techniques that may be used for labiaplasty. Your surgeon will select the approach based on your anatomy, the amount of tissue requiring reduction and your desired outcome.
Laser Labiaplasty
Some of our surgeons offer laser labiaplasty as an alternative technique for reducing and reshaping excess labial tissue. Laser technology may allow the surgeon to work precisely on the targeted tissue and may involve less tissue trauma than some conventional surgical approaches. Laser labiaplasty is still a surgical procedure. The suitability of laser treatment and the technique used will depend on your individual anatomy, the amount of tissue requiring treatment and your surgeon's assessment. Your surgeon will explain the recommended technique during your consultation in Thailand before you proceed.
Trim Technique
The surgeon removes excess tissue along the edge of the labia minora and reshapes the remaining tissue. This technique may be appropriate where the primary concern is excess length or tissue along the outer edge of the labia.
Wedge Technique
A wedge-shaped section of tissue may be removed from the labia minora while preserving more of the natural edge. The technique selected will depend on your individual anatomy and the surgeon's assessment.
Labia Majora Reduction or Reshaping
Where appropriate, the outer labia may also be reduced or reshaped. This is not required for every patient and may be considered when there is excess tissue or fullness of the labia majora. Your surgeon will determine the most appropriate technique during your consultation. Not every technique is suitable for every patient.
Labiaplasty Consultation
Before you travel, we collect your medical information and photographs and send these to your surgeon for a preliminary assessment. This allows the surgeon to review your case and provide an initial recommendation.
If you have questions about the surgeon's preliminary recommendation, we are happy to go back to the surgeon with your questions so you can feel comfortable and informed before you travel.
During your consultation in Thailand, your surgeon will:

Your in-person consultation allows the surgeon to examine you and confirm the final surgical plan before you proceed with surgery.
Pre-Operative Assessment
Before surgery, the hospital will complete the medical assessments required for your procedure. Depending on your age, medical history and hospital requirements, these may include:

Physical examination
Medical history assessment
ECG or other investigations where required
The exact tests required will be determined by the hospital and medical team based on your individual circumstances.
Labiaplasty Procedure
Labiaplasty may be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on the surgical plan, extent of treatment and your surgeon's recommendation.
1. Anaesthesia
The appropriate anaesthesia is administered before the procedure begins.
2. Surgical Preparation
The surgeon prepares and marks the treatment area according to the agreed surgical plan.
3. Tissue Reduction and Reshaping
The surgeon removes the planned amount of excess tissue and reshapes the labia to improve proportion and symmetry.
4. Closure
The incisions are carefully closed using appropriate sutures, which are generally dissolvable.
5. Recovery
You are monitored following surgery and discharged or admitted according to your surgeon's recommended recovery plan. Your Patient Coordinator will be available to provide support, assist with communication and help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Labiaplasty Scarring
Labiaplasty involves surgical incisions and therefore produces scars.
The scars are generally located along the treated areas of the labia and are designed to follow the natural contours of the tissue.
Scars may initially appear more noticeable, swollen or firm before gradually softening and becoming less prominent as they mature.
Scar appearance varies between patients and depends on factors including individual healing, skin characteristics and surgical technique.
