Implants are available in different sizes, shapes and profiles. The appropriate implant depends on factors including your existing breast tissue, chest width, anatomy, skin quality and your desired result.
Your surgeon will discuss the available implant options with you and recommend an implant that is appropriate for your individual anatomy and goals.
The final implant selection is confirmed with your surgeon during your consultation in Thailand.
Implants up to around 400cc are commonly available in Thailand, while larger sizes may need to be specially ordered.
Breast Implants Above 400cc
If you are considering implants 500cc or larger, these will generally need to be specially ordered in Thailand. As patients in Thailand are often smaller-framed, hospitals typically stock a wider range of smaller implant sizes, while larger implants may not be readily available.
For this reason, we recommend having a physical examination with a qualified breast surgeon in your own country before requesting your quote. The surgeon can assess your individual anatomy and advise you on the appropriate implant size, shape, profile, type and brand, including the maximum size that may be suitable for you.
Once you have this information, simply send us the surgeon's recommendations and we can use these details to obtain a quote from Thailand.
Once you are happy with your quote and decide to proceed, we can arrange for your larger implants to be specially ordered and available for your surgery.
Implant Placement
Breast implants can be placed in different positions depending on your anatomy, existing breast tissue and the result you are looking to achieve.
Over the Muscle (Subglandular)
The implant is placed behind the breast tissue and above the chest muscle.
Under the Muscle (Submuscular)
The implant is placed beneath the chest muscle.
Dual Plane
The implant is placed partly under the chest muscle and partly behind the breast tissue. This technique may be recommended for some patients depending on their anatomy and desired result.
Your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate implant placement for you during your consultation.
Implant Insertion
Some surgeons may use a sterile disposable implant delivery funnel when placing the implant.
The funnel allows the implant to be inserted with minimal direct handling, which may help reduce contact with the implant during surgery and may allow a smaller incision in some circumstances.
The use of an implant delivery system depends on the surgeon and your individual surgical plan.
Can Breast Augmentation Be Combined With Other Procedures?
Breast augmentation is often combined with other cosmetic procedures, including:

A breast lift may be recommended when there is significant breast drooping or excess skin. Breast augmentation alone does not lift significantly drooping breasts.

During your consultation in Thailand, the surgeon will:

Confirm your final surgical plan
Your in-person consultation allows the surgeon to examine you and confirm the final surgical plan before you proceed with surgery.
Pre-Operative Assessment
Before surgery, the hospital will complete the medical assessments required for your procedure. Depending on your circumstances, these may include:

Physical examination

Breast imaging where required
The exact tests required may vary depending on your age, medical history and hospital requirements.
Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia.
Your Patient Coordinator will be with you on the day of surgery to provide support.
The procedure generally involves:
1 Incisions
The surgeon makes an incision using the technique selected for your individual surgical plan.
2 Procedure
The implant is positioned either over the muscle, under the muscle or using a dual-plane technique, depending on your anatomy and the surgeon's recommendation.
3 Closure
The incision is carefully closed and dressings are applied. Drains are used if required.
4 Recovery
You are monitored in the recovery area before being transferred to your hospital room.
Positioning and Assessment
The surgeon checks the implant position and overall breast shape.
Breast Augmentation Scarring
Breast augmentation creates a scar at the incision site. The location and length of the scar depend on the surgical technique and incision used.
Your surgeon will discuss the incision options available to you and recommend the most appropriate approach based on your anatomy and implant selection.
Scars gradually change in appearance and generally become less noticeable as they mature.
