Thigh Lift in Thailand

Thigh lift surgery, also known as thighplasty, is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove excess skin and reshape and tighten the thighs. A thigh lift can improve the contour and appearance of the thighs where loose or sagging skin remains following significant weight loss, ageing or changes in skin elasticity.

Thigh lift surgery may be recommended for patients who have excess skin that does not respond to exercise or weight loss. Depending on your individual anatomy and goals, your surgeon may recommend an inner thigh lift, an extended thigh lift, liposuction or a combination of techniques.

At MediCation Tours, your thigh lift is arranged as part of an all-inclusive medical tourism package, including surgery, hospital care, accommodation, transfers and patient support.

Before you travel, our surgeons review the information and photographs you provide and assess your suitability for surgery. Your surgeon will assess your skin quality, amount of excess skin and fat, thigh contour and desired outcome before recommending the most appropriate surgical approach.

What Is Thigh Lift Surgery?

Thigh lift surgery involves removing excess skin and reshaping and tightening the remaining tissue to improve the contour of the thighs. Where appropriate, liposuction may also be used to remove localised areas of excess fat.

A thigh lift may help address:

● Loose or sagging skin on the thighs

● Skin rubbing or chafing between the thighs

● Loss of skin firmness due to ageing

● Changes in thigh shape following major weight fluctuations

● Discomfort caused by excess skin

● The appearance of excess skin when wearing fitted clothing

A thigh lift is primarily designed to address excess skin. If you have good skin elasticity and your main concern is localised excess fat, your surgeon may recommend liposuction instead of a thigh lift.

Am I a Good Candidate for Thigh Lift Surgery?

You may be suitable for thigh lift surgery if you:

Have loose or sagging skin on your thighs

Have excess skin that does not respond to exercise or diet

Experience rubbing or chafing between your thighs

Feel self-conscious about excess skin or the shape of your thighs

Are in suitable health for surgery

Understand that thigh lift surgery results in surgical scars

You should discuss your circumstances with the surgeon if you:

Are still actively losing a significant amount of weight

Are considering combining a thigh lift with other body-contouring procedures

Smoke or use nicotine products

Have medical conditions that may affect surgery or healing

Your suitability for surgery and the most appropriate surgical approach are determined by the surgeon following an individual assessment.

What Can Thigh Lift Surgery Address?

Loose Skin

A thigh lift can remove excess skin that remains following significant weight loss, ageing or changes in skin elasticity.

Thigh Contour

Removing excess skin and tightening the remaining tissue can improve the overall shape and contour of the thighs.

Inner Thigh Rubbing

Excess skin on the inner thighs can cause rubbing and chafing. Removing this excess tissue may improve comfort during walking and everyday activities.

Skin Firmness

A thigh lift can improve the appearance of loose and lax skin by removing excess tissue and tightening the remaining skin.

Clothing Fit

Removing excess skin may improve the way clothing fits around the thighs and reduce discomfort caused by excess tissue.

Body Proportions

Improving the contour of the thighs can help create more balanced proportions between the thighs and surrounding areas of the lower body.

Thigh Lift Techniques

Every patient has different levels of skin laxity, fat distribution and thigh anatomy. Your surgeon will determine the most appropriate technique during your consultation.

Inner Thigh Lift

A traditional inner thigh lift removes excess skin from the inner thigh. The incision typically extends from the groin downwards along the inner thigh, allowing the surgeon to tighten the skin and improve the contour. This is commonly recommended for patients with moderate to significant skin laxity in the upper and inner thigh.

Extended Thigh Lift

An extended thigh lift involves a longer incision that may wrap around the groin or extend further down the leg towards the knee. This technique is typically used for patients with more extensive skin laxity, often following significant weight loss, where excess tissue extends beyond the upper thigh.

Liposuction-Assisted Thigh Contouring

Where appropriate, liposuction may be combined with a thigh lift to remove localised areas of excess fat and refine the overall thigh contour. Liposuction alone may be more appropriate for patients who have excess fat but good skin elasticity and little loose skin. Your surgeon will determine the most appropriate technique based on your skin quality, fat distribution, degree of skin laxity and desired outcome.

Liposuction Combined With a Thigh Lift

In some patients, liposuction may be combined with a thigh lift to remove localised areas of excess fat and refine the overall thigh contour. However, combining procedures is not appropriate for every patient. Your surgeon will assess your skin quality, fat distribution and the extent of surgery required before determining whether liposuction can safely be combined with a thigh lift.

Thigh Lift vs Liposuction

A thigh lift and liposuction are different procedures. A thigh lift primarily removes excess skin and tightens the remaining tissue. Liposuction removes excess fat but does not remove significant amounts of loose skin.

If you have significant loose skin following weight loss, a thigh lift may be more appropriate. If you have good skin elasticity and your main concern is localised fat, liposuction may be sufficient.

Some patients may benefit from combining both procedures where appropriate. Your surgeon will determine the most suitable treatment based on your individual anatomy and goals.

A thigh lift is primarily designed to address excess skin. If you have good skin elasticity and your main concern is localised excess fat, your surgeon may recommend liposuction instead.

Thigh Lift Consultation

Before you travel, we collect your medical information and photographs and send these to your surgeon for a preliminary assessment. This allows the surgeon to review your case and provide an initial recommendation.

If you have questions about the surgeon's preliminary recommendation, we are happy to go back to the surgeon with your questions so you can feel comfortable and informed before you travel.

During your consultation in Thailand, your surgeon will:

Examine your thighs

Assess skin quality, elasticity and fat distribution

Discuss your goals and desired outcome

Discuss the recommended thigh lift technique

Explain incision locations and expected scarring

Discuss recovery and realistic expectations

Confirm your final surgical plan

Your in-person consultation allows the surgeon to examine you and confirm the final surgical plan before you proceed with surgery.

Pre-Operative Assessment

Before surgery, the hospital will complete the medical assessments required for your procedure. Depending on your age, medical history and individual circumstances, these may include:

Blood tests

ECG

Chest X-ray

Physical examination

Medical history assessment

The exact tests required may vary depending on your age, medical history, previous surgery and hospital requirements.

Thigh Lift Procedure

Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. Your Patient Coordinator will be with you on the day of surgery to provide support.

1 Incisions

The surgeon will determine the most appropriate incision pattern based on the amount and location of excess skin. For an inner thigh lift, the incision is usually made in the groin area and may extend down the inner thigh. An extended thigh lift may require longer incisions to address more extensive skin laxity.

2 Additional Procedures

If liposuction forms part of your surgical plan, it may be performed to remove localised areas of excess fat and refine the contour of the thighs before the loose skin is removed.

3 Closure

The incisions are carefully closed with appropriate sutures. Drains may be used temporarily where required.

4 Recovery

You will be monitored in hospital following surgery and receive post-operative care according to your individual surgical plan.

Thigh Lift Scarring

Thigh lift surgery requires incisions and therefore results in scars. The location and extent of scarring depend on the surgical technique required and the amount of excess skin being removed.

Depending on your individual surgical plan, scars may be:

● Within or around the groin

● Along the inner thigh

● Along a longer section of the inner thigh for an extended thigh lift

Scars initially appear more noticeable but generally mature and become less visible over time. Your surgeon will explain the expected incision locations and scarring during your consultation.
