What Does a Neck Lift Address?
Neck ageing can involve several different changes, and treating only one of them may not produce the result you are looking for.
Loose Neck Skin
Ageing, genetics and significant weight loss can result in excess or hanging skin around the neck.
Platysma Muscle Bands
The platysma is a broad muscle that extends across the front of the neck. As we age, it can become lax and develop visible vertical bands. Surgical tightening of the platysma may help create a smoother and more defined neck.
Excess Fat Under the Chin
Some patients have excess fat beneath the chin or along the upper neck. Liposuction may be used where appropriate to improve the contour.
Loss of Jawline Definition
Changes in the neck and lower face can contribute to a less defined jawline. Treating the neck can help restore a cleaner transition between the chin, jaw and neck.

Neck Lift Techniques
There is no single neck lift technique that is appropriate for everyone. Your surgeon will select the approach based on the structures contributing to your neck ageing.
Platysmaplasty
Platysmaplasty involves tightening and repositioning the platysma muscle. This may help reduce visible neck bands and improve the definition of the neck and jawline.
Cervicoplasty
Cervicoplasty involves removing excess skin from the neck. It may be required where significant skin laxity is present.
Submental Liposuction
Liposuction can remove excess fat beneath the chin and along the upper neck. It is generally most effective when excess fat is present and the skin still has sufficient elasticity.
Not every patient requires these techniques, and your surgeon will explain exactly what is recommended for you.
Neck Lift or Facelift?
A neck lift primarily addresses the neck and jawline, while a facelift primarily addresses ageing and sagging of the middle and lower face, with the neck often being treated as part of the overall procedure.
The two procedures are frequently combined.
A neck lift may be appropriate when:

During your consultation in Thailand, the surgeon will:

Your in-person consultation allows the surgeon to examine you and confirm the final surgical plan before you proceed with surgery.

Neck Lift Procedure
A neck lift is performed under general anaesthesia. Your Patient Coordinator will be with you on the day of surgery to provide support.
1 Incisions
Incisions are carefully positioned, commonly around the ears and/or beneath the chin depending on the technique.
2 Procedures
Where appropriate, excess fat beneath the chin may be removed to improve the contour of the neck. The platysma may be tightened or repositioned where muscle laxity or visible bands are contributing to the appearance of the neck. Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a smoother and more defined neck contour.
3 Closure
The incisions are carefully closed and dressings are applied.
4 Recovery
You are monitored in the recovery area before being transferred to your hospital room.
Neck Lift Scarring
A neck lift involves scarring. Depending on the technique used, a common incision is placed beneath the chin.

The exact incision pattern depends on the procedure required.
